solar energy is d sun's ray which is solar radiation that reach the earth. this enrgy can b converted into other form s of energy such as heat and electricity.
How photovoltaic cells can produce electricity?
Sunlight is composed of photons, or particles of solar energy. these photons contain various amounts of energy corresponding 2 d diffrnt wavelengths of d solar spectrum.
when photons strike a photovoltaic cell, they my b reflected, pass right through or be absorbed. only the absorbed photons provide energy to generate electricity. when enough sunlight energy is absorbed by d material which is semiconductor, electrons are dislodged from the material's atoms, so d electrons naturally migrate to d surfce.
when d electrons leave their position, holes are formed. when many electrons, each carrying a negative charge, travel towrd d front srface of d cell, d resultg imbalance of chrge btwn d cell's front n bck surfces creates a voltge potential like d negatve n positve trminls of bttery. when 2 srfces are conncted through an xtrnl load, such as appliance and electricity will flows.
